Breaking up for the summer (with a bit of magic)

It’s finished.

After months of hard work, I am delighted that my university assignment is finished and handed in. I can now relax for the summer.

I’ve been reading some wonderful books as part of my studies and I will be writing some reviews and blog posts about them very soon. But first I am going to relax with a few books that are not in any way, shape or form connected to my university studies.

The first book on my list is Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke. The blurb says it’s, ‘a peerless tale of magic,’ which is certainly very different to the books I’ve been reading at university.

But there is something really appealing about losing myself in a book about magic!

With 1006 pages this is certainly a book to get your teeth into. I bought it for Chris a few years ago. He enjoyed it and was keen to watch the TV series, which started last night. I always like to read the book first before I see a film or TV adaptation, but I thought it would be interesting to combine the two. I watched part of the first episode last night, but was so tired I had to admit defeat and go to bed. I intend to start reading today, and will catch up on the iPlayer later. I will let you know how I get on.
