The week in books

There is something big happening in the world of publishing this week.

Harper Lee’s novel Go Set a Watchman is being released, but I suppose you all knew that already!

It’s been in my diary for months. Waterstones in Leeds are even doing a midnight opening. The excitement is starting to mount. I have to get my hands on a copy this week. You see, I loved To Kill a Mockingbird. I read it for my GCSE English Literature many years ago and it sparked my passion for literature. Since then I’ve had the pleasure of teaching it and re-reading it and buying it for others and buying the different editions for myself. I love Mockingbird. And I’ve always wished that Harper Lee would write more. And now, this week, my wish is coming true because her first novel is being published. I can return to the world of Jean Louise Finch. I can’t wait.
